Seminar on Metrological Traceability of Temperature Measurements
The seminar was jointly organized by the Hong Kong Accreditation Service (HKAS) and the Open University of Hong Kong – School of Science and Technology on January 25, 2019 (Friday). Dr. Fred Lee, head of Science of OUHK-S&T delivered the welcoming speech. He welcomed all participants to join the seminar and thanks Prof. Graham Machin from National Physical Laboratory of UK and Ir Julian Cheung from Standard and Calibration Laboratory to introduce the Redefinition of thermodynamics temperature unit (Kelvin) and Calibration of temperature chambers and Stirred Liquid Bath. Then Ir KW Chen, Executive Administrator of Hong Kong Accreditation Service presented the opening remark. Over 118 participants from the HOKLAS accredited laboratories, colleges and universities joined the seminar.
Prof. Graham Machin is Head of Temperature Standards and NPL Fellow, National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and the President of Institute of Measurement and Control. He is one of the world’s top temperature measurement scientists and contributed to the redefinition of the kelvin through the work of the BIPM Consultative Committee for Thermometry (CCT) taskforce for the kelvin redefinition.
